Document
Windows Terminal Services is a software solution that is used for
application deployment, efficient access to data over low bandwidths,
reusing older hardware, remote management, remote software access, and other
tasks.
Licensing in a terminal services environment can be complex, but not
necessarily difficult. Each desktop accessing the terminal server
requires a proper Windows or Small Business Server client access license
(CAL), as well as a terminal services (CAL). Click on your network

You can choose one of two licensing
methods:
1-
“per
user”: buy one client access license for each user accessing the
server. This is most effective if you have more computers than users on
the network.
2-
“per
device”: buy one client access license for each device accessing the
server. This is most effective if you have more users than devices
(i.e. schools, etc.) |

Client Access Licenses for SBS are sold in packs of 5.
You can choose one
of two licensing methods:

server. This is most effective if you have more users than devices
(i.e. schools, etc.)

CAL's are only available on a per device basis. Each device that
will use terminal services needs it's own terminal services client
access license. Windows 2000 and Windows XP Professional machines
do not require a terminal services CAL.

Server 2000 |
A CAL is required for each client computer that accesses Small
Business Server 2000. These are offered on a per device basis
